This is the second of The Wanderer series. I began these illustrations because of my desire to emulate old landscape etchings. The series follows the story of a wandering scientific illustrator, who stumbles on a path into a forest, which leads to encounters with impossible ruins of histories unknown.
His second encounter, being much deeper in the woods, is with a living construct of wood and stone. It is a more jarring experience as well. His journal reads: Day 140, I awoke to massive tremors, and a large shadow looming over my camp. After the tremors subsided, I found some high ground. The tremors were not tremors at all. Rather they were footsteps of a walking city. It stopped just meters from crushing my tent. Its construction is similar to that of the golem. The city seems abandoned except for the impatient gaze coming from what I presume is the head. Perhaps it would be best to move my camp from under its foot.
